Stuart Wilson Trophy

Results:

Tony Howes 1 Joshua Morris 0 (Round 6)

Cameron De Vere 0 Peter Hiller 1 (Round 7) – on forfeit

Rex Scarf 0 Mark Pendrith 1 (Round 7)

The main event tonight was the visit of Metin to the club.

Most players not involved in tournament play participated in the Transfer Chess table.

As well as regulars from the current tournament, Shane and Andrew Mather, plus Shane’s father came along, possibly the first time three generations have attended our club night.

In tournament play, Tony’s game finished just after an hour. Tony described it as a ‘horrible game’ for both players, but the win brings him level with Tony Morris.

Cameron did not appear for his game, allowing Peter his first point of the tournament.

The Maiden Trophy was probably decided in the game which was virtually a direct play-off between the two main contenders.

The game finished as a pawn endgame, with Mark’s position slightly superior to his opponent’s with victory ensuing.

Peter Hiller has a possible but improbable chance of catching Mark.
