Andrew Mather and Cameron De Vere both secured wins in contrasting manners to set up a play-off match next Friday.
Ray fell for an opening trap in which Andrew promoted a pawn to a knight and the game was over within 30 minutes, an unusually quick capitulation for the usually solid Ray.
Andrew lost a game to Cameron that ended with both players in time trouble and was decided by small margins with a chaotic ending being resolved through a captured pawn in a game Cameron may have settled for a draw if a win was not essential.
Tony Howes completed his tournament with a win to finish with a 50% score for the tournament.
