Stuart Wilson Trophy

Round 1 results:

Marcus Porter 1 Jim Petrie 0

Peter Hiller 0 Martin Laizans 1

John Ryland 0 Andrew Robinson 1

James Hiller ½ Warren Mayocchi ½

Peter and John both fought out well before losing their games.

Peter was in fact well in front against Martin, and his position only disintegrated in the final moves.

James was behind in the opening, but recovered well to be a pawn and the exchange up in a queen and rook endgame. With just 15 minutes left of his time, and playing for the first time in several months, James erred on the side of caution and offered his opponent a draw which was readily accepted.

Jim’s game was the first to finish on the night, with Marcus commencing his campaign with a win.
