Russell Lyons 1 Brian Willcock 0

 

Kieran badly misplayed the opening and was in a bad position by about Move 8 and resigned at Move 16.

Ray played well to press his couple of pawn advantage won in the early exchanges.

 

Brian arrived late and claimed at the end of the game he allowed Russell to win to make up for his tardy arrival.

However independent viewers felt it was Russell’s good play and blistering kingside attack that actually won the day.
