A few interesting games were played tonight. Greg managed to win Andrew Mather’s queen for a rook and a few pawns. However the resulting position so isolated Greg’s surviving queen that he was not able to make use of his advantage and succumbed to his opponent’s threats.
George played himself into a poor position, and managed to pull a win from this, thus reversing the trend of many of his recent games. This game was the last of the night to finish, although it Ray was a piece down and well lost by the time he fell below five minutes.
None of the other games were whitewashes, but all went to form, including Brian notching his first win of the tournament.
