Allegro Tournament

Results:

Tony Howes 1.5 Jim Petrie 0.5

Marcus Porter 2 John Ryland 0

Andrew Robinson 2 Brian Willcock 0

Tony Howes 2 John Ryland 0

Marcus Porter 1 Brian Willcock 1

John had the better of both games with Tony, and had the equivalent of a piece up or at least the potential to be so.

But after a good start each time John ended up losing his way at the end.

These games went from 9pm to 10pm.

In contrast Marcus and Brian managed to fit two games into 17 minutes (9:15-9:32pm precisely).

Marcus made an instinctual rapid response in the second game which cost him checkmate, whereas the correct move would have resulted in a rook up and certain victory.
