Several games were decided by early blunders. Greg and Brian with conceded pieces in the openings and struggled on valiantly in losing causes. Martin also blundered in the opening and resigned. Tony then played James and was able to achieve his second win of the night before the clock had struck nine. Andrew and Russell’s game saw a phalanx of pawns blockade the board and a draw was the consequence of this unimaginative play (particularly by the white pieces).
