Stuart Wilson Trophy

Results:

James Hiller 0 John Roper 1 (Round 9)

John Ryland 0 Tony Howes 1 (Round 9)

Greg Colwell 0 Andrew Robinson 1 (Round 12)

Three games were played with the first game to finish being a one sided affair where Tony achieved mate in about 17 moves.

James held out in his game for an hour, with his demise precipitated by a rash move which revealed he was unaware of the en passant rule. James was actually a piece up early on, but lost his advantage during the exchanges in the middle game.

Greg had chances to draw, even after he lost the exchange, with strong forward pawns and a good attacking position on black’s kingside. However Andrew was able to hold his defence together and exploited a small chance that avoided a draw.
