Round 2 results:
Gary Sands v Andrew Robinson – postponed

Round 5 result:
Andrew Robinson v Brian Willcock – scheduled for tonight but unplayed
Three games were played tonight. James held out the longest with a knight against a bishop in the endgame. However some early weaknesses in his pawn structure came back to haunt him later in the game and Ray managed to start his tournament with a win. Both Johns went down again but put up a creditable fight.
Gary Sands has been allowed as a late entry to the tournament and will replace the bye making this now a ten player round-robin.
Miriam and Phillip came for their first night of chess at the club. Andrew and Gary provided some warm-up games in preparation for next Friday night’s St David’s Day tournament.
