Jon held his
own well in the start, but some positional problems allowed Andrew’s pieces to
find good squares.
The game was
virtually over when Jon allowed his queen to be pinned by a bishop check.
Tony offered
Brian a piece sacrifice which was refused. It was later speculated that Brian
would accept nothing less than a two piece sacrifice.
Tony was
slightly rattled by this rejection but went on to win the game, although not
enough to win the tournament after the result in the other game.
