Report - 1 October 2010
Stuart Wilson Trophy
Results:
Jim Petrie 1 Jonathan Wilson 0 (Round 13)
Jonathan Wilson 0 James Hiller 1 (Round 4)
Jon lost his game to Jim, after playing well at first, but caving in towards the end.
This early finish allowed time for Jon to play James in a long awaited clash.
Jon had actually been awarded the game on forfeit months ago, but preferred to risk his free point by playing the game over the board.
Jon had a strong early advantage but lost his queen to a knight fork which levelled the game.
James had a roving queen for two unconnected rooks, and his better position allowed him a clear win at the end.
Unplayed games in this tournament
The eight unplayed games in this tournament can still be played up until October 29.
If both players agree, a game awarded on forfeit (there are five after tonight) can be played over the board, with the actual result replacing the forfeit result in the final table.

Quote of the night
Andrew: 'You missed a checkmate in one in your game.'
James: 'No, I didn't. I saw it. But I just wanted to exterminate his remaining rook first.'
Andrew: 'So you were applying the Doctor Who method of chess?'
Note to all Doctor Who Fanatics: Yes, yes, we know… This is actually be the 'Dalek Method'.
