Flood Cup

Round 4 results:

Nathan Shaw v Kieran Lyons – postponed

Andrew Robinson ½ Tony Howes ½

Just one game was played tonight. It proved to be a very lucky escape for Andrew who was dominated by Tony’s more calculated play for most of the first 39 moves. Then Tony pushed the wrong pawn at move 40 when in cruise control with two passed pawns and a thoroughly dominant position. Even after this Tony had the edge but really lost his focus in the endgame, despite his opponent’s time pressure (Andrew down to 14 seconds, but mindful of Ray’s fate last week).

Ray watched on dutifully and also played a few games with Russell who stayed for a while (unlike his daughter!)
