Tony Howes 1.5 Russell Lyons 0.5
Kieran Lyons 2 Greg Colwell 0
Brian Willcock 1 Greg Colwell 1
Just three sets of games played on a quiet night. In Tony’s first game he was a piece up in the endgame, but Russell was still able to force a draw. Kieran advanced her chances with a whitewash over fifth seed Greg. Brian shared the points by winning the first in a canter, then providing an amazing exhibition of hari kiri chess in the second.

Quote of the night
“There is one, but I can’t remember it” – Tony’s response to a question on the name of a “memory drug” used by chess players that allegedly enhances performance (at the chessboard).
