Interclub v Samford Valley Chess Club

The Gap travelled to Samford on a warm winter’s night to meet the local club in an interclub match. The Gap was well represented with ten players travelling and loaned a player to Samford who had eight players. Tony Howes was last through the door for The Gap and thus had to make do with playing for Samford.

At one stage Samford had taken the lead 4 games to 3, but The Gap won the last two games to finish (Kieran and Ray) to maintain its record of narrow victories in this fixture.
