Greg Colwell 1 John Curran 0

Ray Adams v Kieran Lyons – postponed to July 27

Round 9 result:

Ray Adams 1 Mark Taylor 0

Three games were played tonight with victory going to white in each game. Garvin managed to keep in the game despite being a pawn down and with his pieces tied up defensively. However he got into serious time trouble and was unable to co-ordinate his forces well enough to put serious pressure on Andrew. Greg and John played through to a five pawn endgame but with Greg ahead on position. John had a chance of getting back into the game, but his eagerness to swap pawns confirmed his downfall. Ray managed to exert pressure on Mark such that he lost the exchange and was then unable to stop Ray’s well positioned and co-ordinated forces.
