Report – 22 June 2007

One Hour / Maiden Trophy

Round 3 results:

Mark Taylor v Nathan Shaw – postponed

Russell Lyons 1 Garvin Gray 0

Tony Howes 1 Brian Willcock 0

Andrew Robinson 1 John Curran 0 – on forfeit

Cameron De Vere 1 Kieran Lyons 0

Greg Colwell 0 Ray Adams 1

Four games were played over the board on a cold night. John Curran failed to appear and lost on forfeit. Nathan Shaw and Peter Hiller both braved the cold to play non-tournament games.

Cameron came to chess looking like Douglas Mawson and his intimidating appearance must been enough to win against Kieran. Garvin self-imploded after Russell pulled an unexpected, but also unsound move out of the hat. Greg was a queen up for two minor pieces but lost the endgame to Ray’s greater experience. Tony appeared to have a regulation win over Brian.
