Five games were played tonight. Gabby upset reigning the Flood Cup champion on board one with a dominant display after attaining an early positional advantage.
Harvey was 4 pawns to 3 up in the endgame, however his bishop was bad and Debbie’s knight was active and this was the deciding factor. At one point Harvey offered a draw. Debbie said later that if he had offered it three moves earlier she would have accepted.
Marty was in front against Mark but lost his way in converting advantage to victory, which allowed Mark to gain his first win in the Flood Cup.
James advised he would not be coming tonight. His game against Mick was lost on forfeit due to the difficulties in rescheduling it.
Peter did not advise his non-attendance and is therefore withdrawn from the tournament.
