Report – 3 December 2004

Annual General Meeting

There were few radical changes resulting from this year’s AGM. The meeting ran fairly smoothly with issues discussed and everyone having a chance to have their say.

The main outcomes of the meeting were:

·         The club will now meet at 7.30pm (previously 8pm)

·         Tournament matches will start at 8pm (previously 8.30pm)

·         The new One Hour time control will be 60min + 10 sec

·         In future, a scoresheet will not be published on this website if either player does not wish it to be published.

·         Club fee structure for 2005 will remain as it was in 2004

·         Minor changes to the rules for eligibility for the Maiden Trophy.

45 Minute tournament 2004 results in detail

Quote of the night

“It’s very hard when you’re beating yourself” – Phil Kirkman commenting on Brian advising George of the winning move in their 45 minute clash

“I want to be in the Maiden” – PK, suggesting that the Maiden Trophy rules should be further loosened.

After it was mentioned that James might be a Maiden (contender in 2005), Phil replied “Just the thought of it makes me want to wash my hands”

“Spurs’ll go down before Bolton Wanderers” – Phil showing that if James goes home early there is always someone else to hog the quotes (Note 1: review this quote for veracity in 2007!) (Note 2: Brian owns up to being a Spurs supporter)
