Singer Cup 1991
Doug Foster wrote a letter dated 10 Nov 1991 and published in Queensland Chess (Vol 5 No 4 Dec 1991) in response to a call for ideas on how to revive chess in Queensland. One of his suggestions was:
“That the Singer Cup return to its old format of home-and-away games being played in the individual clubs. This was a great way of meeting and getting to know others, it lasted for the best part of the year and wasn’t got over in indecent haste, in unfriendly and clinical surroundings”
