SINGER CUP INTER-CLUB COMPETITION

Some years ago Dr. Singer presented a cup for competition in matches between clubs in the Brisbane area.

It filled a great need and at that time one division was enough to contain all the clubs in the district.

During the last few years, with the rebirth of the Championship, the number of clubs has increased,
and it is now necessary to run the event in three sections, some clubs having two or more teams competing in order of strength.

Teams are of four players, each team playing  a home and away match against opposing clubs.

In this year’s championship the top section was not decided until the last match of the series, when  a win by G. Sigel (Redcliffe)
over P. Daly (
Brisbane) on top board, clinched the title for The Gap club.

Results:

Section A – The Gap 22½; Brisbane 21½; QIT 16½; Redcliffe 16; Pine Rivers 3½.

Section B – Brisbane 22x (round still to be played); Mt Gravatt 17; BPCC 12; QIT 11½x; The Gap 9½x.

Section C – Brisbane 31½; University 25½; (results of several clubs are still outstanding)
