AGM 2003 proposed tournament rule changes

The following three proposals are to be considered by club members at the Annual General Meeting of The Gap Chess Club Inc. which will be held at The Gap State High School on 5 December 2003.

The proposals seek to take advantage of the options offered by the Digital Games Timers (DGTs) purchased in July 2003.

Proposal 1 – Rule change to Flood Cup time controls (rule 13)

From: Rate of Play: First 40 moves in 100 minutes; 20 minutes added for each subsequent 10 moves.

To: Time controls: 1 hour, plus 1 extra minute added per move (from move 1).

Proposal 2 – Rule change to Allegro time controls (rule 3)

From: Time limit: 15 minutes per player to complete all moves.

To: Time controls: 10 minutes, plus 10 extra seconds added per move (from move 1).

Proposal 3 – Rule change to Lightning time controls (rule 4)

From: Time limit: 5 minutes per player to complete all moves.

To: Time controls: 3 minutes, plus 2 extra seconds added per move (from move 1).

Note:

There is no proposal to amend the One Hour time controls. This is because of the tournament’s name, and the need to have variety in our tournaments by including a guillotine finish.
