Tonight witnessed five games with ten
players participating in Round 2.
Brian pulled off an impressive draw
against Tony Howes, especially as Brian was in the
ascendancy.
With a likely but risky path to
victory, Brian claimed he “lacked the courage” and agreed to a draw.
Andrew and Martin played a quite even
game, with Martin ahead in the opening, and Andrew slightly ahead at the point
when Martin blundered and instantly resigned.
The most impressive game of the evening
was the win by Tony Morris over a strong opponent.
This game was a test of stamina and
mental strength, with Evgeny defending for most of the
game, but not giving Tony any easy paths to victory.
Tony finally forced the win at
Daniel Sheldon rejoins the tournament
next round, together with Mark Pendrith whose late entry
has been accepted for Round 3.
