The Allegro Tournament kicked off tonight, and the club welcomed two new players who joined the tournament.

Rex Scarf has joined the club after moving to Brisbane from New Zealand, where he was a long standing member of the chess community.

Thomas Rynne played most of his chess as a junior, then has continued as a school chess coach, and is now looking to continue his playing efforts.

There were no upset results on the first night, but strong play was exhibited and most games were closely decided.
