Interclub Match vs Bullwinkle Chess Club

Bullwinkle brought a strong contingent tonight and win convincingly on most boards.

The last game of the night to finish was on Board One where Michael Van Pelt was able to nullify Andrew’s attack and take advantage of an exposed king to win.

Martin was the saviour for The Gap, producing our only win with some clever play towards the end, after earlier offering a draw to Stuart Holt who was a regular at our club in 2004.

Tony was quite rusty, not having played chess since the Flood Cup, and played so poorly he felt sorry for his opponent that he had not given a competitive game.

Pete and Ray fought losing battles against greater odds in the rating scales, but Stefan held out well in his first tournament game until he blundered a piece towards the end.
