Allegro Tournament

Thirteen sets of games were played tonight.

There were a few interesting games. Joshua lost his second game due to an illegal move (moving a pawn and revealing a check to his king), which loses the game under the newly revised Laws of Chess.

John had what appeared to be a significantly advanced position in Game Two against Brian, but was unable to convert his advantage to victory.

Marcus was lucky to escape in Game One when more accurate and considered play from Tony might have brought a win. Marcus leaving his queen en pris was enough to settle their second game.

Joshua provided the upset of the night, winning both of his games against Shane with solid play.

The final game of the night saw the first draw of the tournament, with Andrew misplaying the endgame to end up with rook + pawn vs rook, but then not playing well enough to convert this difficult position into a win.
