Jim arrived in a rush just before the 8:30pm forfeit time, and thereby claimed a forfeit against his opponent who failed to show.
Then Jim and Ray took advantage of not having another opponent and played their Round 4 game in advance (which concluded within an hour).
Brian concede a pawn in the middle game and would have had drawing chances, but conceded another pawn following an oversight.
Tony and George’s game was complex and went well beyond 11:00pm, requiring an extension of the alarms.
Tony had an positional advantage, which George gambled on breaking down with a piece for pawn sacrifice.
However the resultant pawn storm from George failed to retrieve the piece due to Tony’s accurate defending and the game was over at 11:30pm.
