Report – 2 December 2011

Allegro Tournament

Results:

Russell Lyons 1 Tony Howes 1

Russell Lyons 2 John Ryland 0

The tournament was decided in the first game of the night in which Russell managed to win with two rooks against Tony’s R + B + N. The problem for Tony was a poorly positioned knight which allowed Russell too many opportunities with his extra pawns.

The result mean Andrew wins the Allegro Tournament for the ninth time in the past eleven years, however once again it was close at the finish and his average winning margin in these nine tournaments has been just one point.

Unplayed games involving Joe and Russell have been awarded to their opponents, except their mutual games which are to be voided.
