Round 1 results:

James Hiller 0 Brian Willcock 1 (on forfeit)

Tony Howes 1 John Ryland 0

Russell Lyons 1 John Roper 0

Jim Petrie 0 Andrew Robinson 1

Ray Adams BYE

Three games were played over the board as the Flood Cup commenced for 2011.

The first game to finish saw Jim moving with reckless speed as he sought to push his small positional advantage, but then succumb to a miscalculated exchange.

John Ryland performed well in his first game against Tony who gave some sound advice in the post-match analysis.

Russell ended up three pawn to the good and was comfortably home in the end against John Roper.
