Report – 3 December 2010

Allegro Tournament

Results (Week 10):

Jim Petrie 2 James Hiller 0

Andrew Robinson 1 Tony Howes 1

Kieran Lyons 2 James Hiller 0

Andrew Robinson 1.5 Kieran Lyons 0.5

Andrew won the first game with black pieces using the same defence as in the respective game in the 45 Minute tournament a few weeks ago.

Then Tony won the second game after a gross blunder by Andrew gave away his knight for free. However Tony already had an advantage in this game and would surely have won anyway.

Kieran had a winning advantage in the first game but agreed to a draw in time pressure due to her poor track record with losing on time.

Andrew managed to stymie Kieran’s attack in game two, then grab a couple of pawns advantage, then won with a passed pawn along the a-file (with white).

45 Minute Tournament

Results (Week 4):

Jim Petrie ½ Tony Howes ½  (but played already last week, so result doesn’t count to tournament)

A very quick draw forced by Jim on repetition in a game that lasted less than 10 minutes.

Somehow both players forgot they had already played their game last Friday.
