Ray Adams v Kieran Lyons – postponed

Nathan Shaw 0 Tony Howes 1

Brian Willcock 1 Mitchell Langford 0

Jim Petrie 1 Joe Langford 0

Gary Sands 1 Russell Lyons 0 (played June 4)

James Hiller v Greg Colwell – postponed

Also:

Greg Colwell 0 Gary Sands 1 (from Round 4)

Ray Adams 1 James Hiller 0 (from Round 11)

Six games were played tonight. The last game to finish was Nathan’s game with Tony which Nathan said later he lost his way in the opening.

Greg has a win there for the taking with two rooks and a queen bearing down on Gary’s king, but in Greg’s words: “I stuffed it”.

Jon played some unorthodox moves that had Andrew on the back foot early, but a rook was sacrificed when Jon missed the correct pawn move. Then at move 17 a disastrous castling, rather than shepherding the king to safety, gave away checkmate at move 18.

Quote of the night

“I’ve got a nasty rash. Better I don’t play Andrew or Tony tonight” – Ray

“Unfortunately, for a Christian, Ray wasn’t very Christian with me tonight” – James

Looking for an adjective to describe Ray’s style of play:

“Slippery, cunning, ruthless” – James

“Methodical” – Andrew

“Yes, that’s what I meant” – James
