Allegro tournament

Results:

Andrew Robinson 1 Nathan Shaw 1 (two draws)

Gary Sands 2 James Hiller 0

Ray Adams 2 James Hiller 0

Andrew and Nathan fought out two draws which means their games with Tony will now be decisive in deciding the winner of the tournament. The first game was fairly even with Andrew having a slightly upper hand after swift early exchange of pieces. However Nathan set up a successful pawn barrier which blocked further progress. Nathan won a bishop and seemed coasting to victory with a rampaging queen and knight. However the position exchanged down to a rook and knight against a rook, but with Nathan having a pawn advantage. Andrew grabbed a knight back with a check but was still two pawns to nil down with rooks on the board. Nathan conceded a pawn to exchange the rooks, but then missed the opposition and allowed Andrew’s king to block progress of Nathan’s remaining pawn.

James put up a reasonable fight in his four games tonight but fell short of the line each time.
