Ray defeated Tony to continue his good form from the Flood Cup and press his claims for winning this tournament.
Brian had an advantage in a rook and pawn endgame with Cameron also in time trouble. On this basis Brian declined a draw offer only to “move the wrong pawn” and gift a fortunate Cameron the game.
Russell and Andrew’s game proceeded with a flurry of exchanges prompting Russell to enquiry after the game if his opponent had been seeking a draw (he hadn’t!).
Nathan felt he had the better of his game against Gary but came out of it with a draw, albeit a better result for him than the corresponding Flood Cup fixture.
