Flood Cup

Results:

Brian Willcock 0 Ray Adams 1

Gary Sands 1 Greg Colwell 0

Nathan Shaw 1 James Hiller 0

Ray gave up a piece for two early passed pawns and a strong attacking position. Brian survived the initial threats but ended with a bishop, knight and a pawn against a rook and five well spread pawns which proved too much for him to defend against.

Greg was a piece up at about move 15, but made an error that cost a piece and brought the game back to parity. Then a few moves later he made another blunder that allowed a deadly pin that cost Greg another piece, and this time the game.

James brought along a cheer squad of one, but she was not enough to help him to an unlikely victory over Nathan.

Quote of the night

During a master class for James presented by Debbie:

Debbie: “Now… pretend I’m a 10 year old girl….. see now, you’ve got nothing to fear...”

Debbie: “Have I got any weaknesses?”

James: “Well, I’d like to attack your…(doesn’t get the word out)…”

Greg: “I was a piece and a pawn up. I just threw it away. Two blunders in a row.”
