Report – 31 August 2007

One Hour / Maiden Trophy

Round 10 results:

Nathan Shaw 1 Brian Willcock 0

Tony Howes 1 Greg Colwell 0

Just two games were played tonight, plus one Odd Knights game.

Brian threw away a good advantage to lose a piece and end up with a cascade of pawns coming down the board at him. Andrew provided three extra queens just in case, but fortunately these were not needed.

Tony beat Greg to maintain his chances of finally claiming a tournament victory after an unparalleled run of seconds and thirds since coming to the club in 2003.

Quote of the night

“Maybe the club should create the Tony Howes Trophy… for the person who comes second in the Flood Cup!” - Andrew!
