One Hour/Maiden Tournament

Round 7 results:

Ray Adams 0 Brian Thomas 1

Debbie Jenkins 0 Garvin Gray 1

Marty Chadwick ½ Cameron De Vere ½

Greg Colwell 0 Andrew Robinson 1

Tony Howes 1 Ellis Markson 0

John Curran 0 Shane Martin 1

Mark Taylor 1 Tom Szekely 0

Tim Johnson 0 Gordon Powell 1

Tonight saw a full programme of eight matches played. Brian Thomas’ defeat of Ray means that Brian wins the One Hour Trophy for the third time.

Marty and Cameron drew their game and therefore play off next Friday night to decide the Maiden Trophy winner. Marty was a pawn up in an awkward QvQ ending but couldn’t push the advantage, much to his frustration.

Garvin beat an out-of-sorts Debbie to claim third place and his highest finish in a tournament at The Gap.

Other games went to form, with the final table showing ten players achieved four points or more, meaning that many players can feel they achieved a satisfactory result in this tournament.

There was a challenge to the draw for Round 7. For the decision and how it was made refer to: Decision to use Swissperfect for the Round 7 draw.
