45 Minute Tournament

Results:

Shane Martin 1 Mick Waters 0

Stuart Wilson 0 Debbie Jenkins 1

Andrew Robinson 1 Mark Taylor 0

Debbie Jenkins ½ Marty Chadwick ½

Debbie comfortably won against Stuart who gave away pieces in an extravagant manner that he could not afford. She later played Marty who went a piece down in the middle game. Debbie had a bishop, knight and pawn against Marty’s pawn with ten minutes left on her clock. Marty sacked the bishop on the pawn and Debbie was unable to force the difficult bishop and knight mate within the remaining time. This result leaves Marty able to win the group outright if he can conquer Zoltan in his final game.

Andrew increased his chances of winning the other group grabbing a crucial pawn with two rooks and a minor piece each on the board. After this unforeseen capture Mark’s position crumbled quickly. Shane maintained his challenge with a win over Mick being a worthy reflection of his current strong form.
