Allegro tournament

Results:

Phillip Kirkman 2 Garvin Gray 0

Peter Hiller 2 Marty Chadwick 0

Phillip Kirkman 2 Peter Hiller 0

Despite a decent showing on this off-night, only 3 tournament games were played. Debbie's reluctance to play tournament games due to a trying day, coupled with Garvin's early departure this evening, meant that player match-ups were limited.

The games that were played were all very one-sided. Marty, also exhausted from the events of the day, was soundly thrashed by Peter who played some solid chess in both games. In similar style, Garvin was dismissed by Phil with typical aplomb.

Phil rounded off the night's major events with comfortable wins against Peter, who had blundered pieces in both games. These results have put Phil into the lead for the first time this tournament, albeit by a mere half-point. With many games still to be played between the top placegetters, the result is far from certain.

Quote of the night

“Is there a competition on?” – Peter, after walking into a quiet B6 room filled with chessboards and clocks.

“Peter, we should step into the other room and have a bit of a bash.” – Phil, perhaps looking to explore the realm of chessboxing.
