A small attendance of eight players showed up tonight, so games were restricted to those players.

Stuart played well and had huge advantages in both of his games with white. Against Andrew he could have gained a piece advantage with Andrew’s king totally exposed to multiple threats but missed the opportunity. In his white game with Harvey he was a clear queen up in the endgame but faltered under time pressure by misreading the diagonal, thinking he was checking Harvey king when he wasn’t and allowing Harvey to promote a pawn and get a queen of his own. With a couple of moves it was game over.

Mark managed two good wins over Garvin with a combination of good positions over the board and time pressure on his opponent. However, at the end of the night’s play Mark surprisingly faltered to Tim who is playing in his first chess tournament.

Tony Howes notified during the week that he has withdrawn from this tournament.
