Allegro tournament

Phillip Kirkman returned to the club after four and a half years of living and working in London. His form is better than ever, although he will disarm his opponent by claiming otherwise! He declined the invitation to be a late entry into the tournament.

George demolished Andrew in game 2, inflicting Andrew’s first defeat of the tournament. The first game ended in a draw with the position: (Andrew-W Kf3 Qb7 b4 d5 f2; George-B Kd8 Qd6 e5 h4).

Stuart W beat his namesake in shock result. Mr Wilson was greatly offended when the DOP asked for 3 witnesses to the result!

Dusan has not commenced his games and is out (it is now week 3). The tournament will continue with 15 players.

Quote of the night

Several quotes tonight…

“He wasn’t pleased”- SW

“We have an informal whipping system”- James Hiller taken totally out of context to gain maximum humorous effect (he claimed to have been talking politics – ed)

“Downs syndrome?”- PK
