One Hour tournament

Round 6 games:

Tony Howes 1 Marty Chadwick 0

Debbie Jenkins ½ Harvey Quaresmini ½

Brian Willcock 1 Peter Hiller 0

Stuart Wilson 0 Gabriel Boross 1

Gavin Foulger 0 Andrew Robinson 1

John Curran 0 George Flitcroft-Smith 1

Four of the games reaped the expected results with Tony, Brian, Gabby and George all having comfortable wins.

Debbie was very pleased with herself for gaining a half point off Harvey, this being an improvement on recent results. Andrew used his time effectively to put pressure on Gavin which saw him give up a positional advantage and allow Andrew a mating combination.

Quote of the night:

“Shouldn’t we re-name the Queen the Brian….”

- G Flitcroft-Smith, starting a torrent of Brian / Queen jokes, not all strictly chess-related and of concern to Brian’s fondness for sacrificing his queen.
